End Irresponsible Whale and Dolphin Watching Practices
Mission & Approach
Irresponsible whale and dolphin watching practices harm cetaceans and their environment. There is a very thin line between irresponsible and responsible whale and dolphin watching practices. Consequences of bad practices include:
Disturbance to whales and dolphins: Noise pollution, harassment, and reckless boat maneuvers can stress and harm cetaceans, potentially causing death.
Collision risks: Speeding boats and jet skis increase the risk of collisions, endangering both cetaceans and people.
Habitat degradation: Irresponsible anchoring damages marine ecosystems vital for whales and dolphins.
Disruption of migration: Disturbances can alter migration routes, impacting feeding and breeding.
Stress and health issues: Chronic stress weakens the immune systems of whales and dolphins.
Legal consequences: Violations of wildlife protection regulations can lead to legal repercussions.
Responsible whale and dolphin watching is crucial to protect these creatures and their habitats. We expose companies not following the regulations (code of conduct and other local regulations) until they face legal action. Furthermore, we aim to create awareness among whale and dolphin watchers so that they can recognize bad whale and dolphin watching practices themselves and subsequently expose companies that do not respect the code of conduct.
